about tom

Picture
Hi! I'm Tom. A stuff creator from northern New Hampshire.

music.

Picture
I'm a multi-genre multi-instrumentalist songwriter, sound engineer, and producer.

Drawing from a wiiiide range of musical feeds, nothing is off the table. I try to aim for a sonic blend of instruments in my tracks, mixing and matching and having fun, just to see whatever the heck comes out next. Music is a playground.
I work as a home studio musician, producing and selling music to internet sources for films, documentaries, advertisements, commercials, games, and other media. I've also produced a number of albums and recordings for local groups. In addition to my own stuff, I suppose.

Since 2010, I've been doing live audio engineering work for local and international bands as they pass through venues in the area.

Extensive work with various soundboards, sound equipment, and the occasional nightmare-inducing high-pressure scenario.
When I get a chance, I also perform live in a handful of regional groups, playing classic rock, celtic, folk, and bluegrass music.

Most of the time, though, I'm sitting in my pajamas in my bedroom with my guitar turned up to 11.

Because growing up is for chumps.

design.

Every week presents a new heap of projects for graphic art, news layout design, poster creation, album covers, and general photography.

I've also done artwork and illustration, mostly for personal projects. Doodles that show up on the sides of discarded styrofoam coffee cups. Low-impact graffiti in the corners of notebooks.

I've also done a bounty of video projects, both commissioned and personal, and even the occasional animation.

journalism.

During the day, I work as the Associate Editor of The Colebrook Chronicle, a regional news organization in northern New Hampshire. Front page features, news photography, layout design and editorial work are the flavor of every week of my life since 2001. I'm also video reporter and producer for The Colebrook Chronicle Video News of the Week, a weekly webcast for northern New Hampshire and the surrounding region.
New full-length reports are online every Friday morning, with breaking segments and special reports throughout the week. Videos from the Video News of the Week have been featured on television news broadcasts around the area. The Video News also features in-depth interviews and special performances with many top-level American and Canadian musicians.

I've also done on-again off-again games journalism through the years. News, reviews, previews, and breakdowns, most of which can currently be found every week in the Addicted To Loot gaming podcast. Glorified ranting, more often than not, but hey, video games!

arts.

Picture
I'm a member of the Great North Woods Committee for the Arts, a northern New Hampshire-based nonprofit organization that supports, promotes, and provides arts and entertainment to the area.

Volunteer audio engineering, poster design, website management, promotion, and opinion giving-ing.
I've also joined in representing our area in multiple international conferences and showcases, scouting out and connecting with groups to bring back to the region.

writing.

I've done storywriting and scriptwriting since I could get my fingers on any form of keyboard. It's always usually mostly terrible. This mostly extends to a heap of deadline-crunched projects from high school, but a couple of other works have cropped up through the years.
Picture
An ongoing project has been "Monomyth," a parody of high fantasy that turned into a sprawling, massive, multi-media universe. Although the project is doomed to developmental hell, every now and then on those sleepless nights, it occasionally gets revisited, and a spark of hope is ignited.
From 2002-2004, I submitted contributions of lore storywriting to the online videogame Eternal Lands, some of which continues to be archived to this day. These ranged in quality from bad to horrendous, but we all had to start somewhere, right?

acting.

Picture
Performances in key roles in local theater groups, including Bernard in "Boeing, Boeing" and Clifford in "Deathtrap."

Also appearances in school productions of "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers," and I think I may have been Generic Child #7 in "The King and I."

Occasional voice acting work, too, mostly in a pinch when someone far more talented can't be found.
